Timeline / How it all Works
- Initial Contact
After you get in touch, we will ask a few questions to ascertain the type of system you require and will be happy to schedule a call to run through options with you if required at this stage or later in the process.
- Quote Details
Typically, we will quote for the maximum number of panels that we believe we can fit. This can of course be tailored to your needs and budget, for say a smaller household or indeed in a larger household where there is enough garden space, we might look at different options with you such as a ground mounted or pergola type solution.
To provide an estimate, we will just ask for a couple of images and some general usage information. will also use satellite images and information provided to prepare your quote.
- Site Survey Stage
Once you have received your initial estimate and are largely happy to proceed to the next step (with no absolute commitment, or course), we can then organise a detailed site survey for your property.
- Final Quote Stage
If a quote revision is required post site survey, we will send this on. This is often the stage where customers schedule a call to entirely pin down the system and understand the options available such as whether a battery or energy diverter for hot water are appropriate for needs.
- When you Accept the Quote
We send on an invoice with a deposit request of 50% to initiate the project.
- SEAI Grant (if applicable)
Along with your invoice, you will receive details of how to register for the SEAI grant. This a very simple online application and thereafter, we manage the process throughout for you.
- Notification to ESB Networks
Sunstream will send an NC6 form which notifies ESB Networks of your installation under the microgeneration scheme which will later allow you to sell energy back to the grid once your system has been commissioned.
Your MPRN is your reference for same with your energy provider.
Once your system has been installed, you should negotiate a rate with your energy provider.
- Scheduling of Panel Installation
Provisional scheduling is advised once deposit has been paid. For the installation of the panels (we aim for a much shorter lead time but occasionally this can take up to 6 weeks from point of deposit payment).
Delivery of Panels and installation Material will take place in the days leading up to the installation.
There will need to be someone at home to accept delivery of goods as well as during the installation.
- Next Stage Payment 40% of Invoice Falls Due
- Scheduling of Electrical Installation / Commissioning of System
Electrical installation ideally will take place in the week or two following panel installation but can be up to 3 weeks after.
Delivery of Electrical equipment will take place in the days leading up to the installation.
There will need to be someone at home to accept delivery of goods as well as during the installation. Note that power will be down intermittently on the day.
- Monitoring App
The app which allows you to monitor your system will be set up on the day or days following the electrical installation. You will be instructed to download the relevant app and will receive an email notification to login.
- Provision of Documentation from Sunstream to SEAI
Customer is notified by Sunstream that all documents have been provided by us to SEAI and receives all relevant paperwork, manuals and warranty details.
- Final 10% Payment Falls Due
- BER Assessment (SEAI Grant Applicant Only)
You must organise your own BER Assessment, Sunstream can recommend an assessor for you if required. Following the visit to your home, your assessor will directly upload the BER documents to SEAI and this is the final piece in the grant approval process.
- Grant Refund Payment from SEAI
Normally the SEAI refunds the grant amount to you anywhere from 2 – 6 weeks after submission of paperwork by Sunstream and upload of BER by your assessor.
Occasionally the SEAI will carry out on-site checks which they will schedule with you directly and in some instances, this can delay the process a little more.
SEAI Grants
The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), provides grants for Microgreneration projects for homeowners and for businesses.
Sunstream Energy will guide you through the process and manage all of the paperwork required. You can view more details on the SEAI Website.
